Talk to Strangers Opening the Dialogue Between Law Enforcement and the Community it Serves
|
The vision for this the event is to invite law enforcement officers and community members to participate equally in a small forum discussion, focused on issues surrounding police legitimacy, public trust, and community relations. Guests will also be challenged to consider the changing role of law enforcement and visualize alternatives to the status quo of our current criminal justice system. Participants will be broken down into small groups of individuals from various professional and personal backgrounds, and given a series of specific topics to discuss. At the conclusion of the discussion period, a representative from each of the groups will present the issues raised in their group for consideration. Each group will have a volunteer church practitioner to assist in moderation. Open and honest, informal discussion is encouraged.Location: Guidance Church, An Affiliate of Centers for Spiritual Living, 7225 Crenshaw Blvd |
