Pre-conference Intensives at Awakened World 2008

Wednesday, October 1, 2008

10am - 4pm (with lunch break)
$100 with conference registration
$150 (not attending conference)
For a separate registration fee, attendees are invited to work with a master teacher for a full day in a more intensive setting. This model has proved valuable to registrant and teacher alike because deeply attuned, and experiential work focused on the topic that draws your greatest passion is such a rare opportunity.  We invite only a select number of presenters to consider this option. You will come away with a comprehensive understanding and skill set for further engagement in the area your master teacher provides.

Lynne McTaggart

Intensive title TBA

Lynne McTaggart is an internationally recognized spokesperson on the science of spirituality and the award-winning author of five books, including The Field, which has been published in fourteen languages. She is also co-executive director of Conatus, which publishes some of the world's most respected health and spiritual newsletters, including What Doctors Don't Tell You.

Lynne is an investigative journalist, and began work on "Living the Field" four years ago as a personal quest. Her research took her to many areas around the globe, meeting with top frontier scientists in Russia, Germany, France, England, South American, Central America and the USA. During these meetings, she saw what these scientists were working on and it seemed to overthrow the current laws of biology, chemistry and physics. Their theories and experiments also compounded into a new science, a new view of the world.

For several years she immersed herself in quantum physics and pored through hundreds of scientific papers to decoding what was often impenetrable work. In many cases she had to pester the scientists to explain aspects of physics in order to check facts and interpretations. Lynne concludes that her work paints a picture of an interconnected universe and a new scientific theory which makes sense of parapsychological and 'supernatural' phenomena. She lives in London.

Socially Conscious Leadership: Inspiration, Strategies & Practice

In this interactive, experiential intensive, Azim Khamisa offers deep personal insights as well as enlightening strategies that empower us to expand our personal and collective roles in eliciting lasting social change and global harmony.

Azim's remarkable story and life work serve as a model and inspiration for those who yearn for innovative and effective ways of creating and sustaining a world that works for everyone. Through Azim's 3 step process, he shares how he transformed unspeakable grief from the tragic killing of his 20-year-old son Tariq into "good deeds" for a society deeply in need of change, dedicating his life to teaching children and professionals alike the powerful concepts of forgiveness, restorative justice, nonviolence and social responsibility.

Through a powerful meditation and visioning process, Azim guides us to gain clarity, deepen convictions and tap into the mystical, inspiring us to develop a solution-oriented mission and vision statement that specifically addresses root causes of critical social issues.

This intensive will serve as a valuable foundation for absorbing and effectively applying the cutting edge material presented throughout the remainder of the conference. Please join Azim Khamisa for a remarkable day of breakthroughs, re-energizing passions and opening to the divine wisdom, strategies and practice of Socially Conscious Leadership.

Azim Khamisa became an outspoken leader for social change in 1995 after the senseless gang-related murder of his 20-year-old son Tariq by a 14-year-old. Believing there were "victims at both ends of the gun," Azim established the Tariq Khamisa Foundation (TKF), a nonprofit organization dedicated to steering kids away from gangs, guns and violence and empowering them to become leaders and peacemakers. Remarkably, Azim forgave Tony, his son's assailant, and invited Ples Felix, Tony's grandfather and guardian, to join him at TKF in an effort to end youth violence.

A highly regarded and respected leader and speaker, Azim has received more than 60 regional, national and international awards and was one of 29 selected to participate in the Synthesis Dialogues with His Holiness the Dalai Lama in 2004.

In collaboration with the National Youth Advocate Program (NYAP), Azim created Constant and Never Ending Improvement (CANEI), a highly effective restorative justice program. He is the award winning author of Azim's Bardo - From Murder To Forgiveness - A Father's Journey and has recently released his 2nd book, From Forgiveness to Fulfillment, which details the continued evolution of his journey -- a powerful example for all in creating a better world.

Corinne McLaughlin and Gordon Davidson

Business and Politics in 2012:
How You Can Help Create the New World

Is there any evidence of hope for the future amidst all the escalating crises in the world today?  Right in the midst of all this upheaval, the seeds of a new world are growing at this very moment in every field - if you know where--and more importantly how--to look.  By 2012 socially responsible, environmentally sustainable businesses that honor a "triple bottom line" (people, planet, profit) will have a huge market share.  By 2012 transpartisan, multi-stakeholder dialogues that find higher common ground will be the norm for transforming political conflicts.  Join two pioneers and practical visionaries who've been on the leading edge of social change for over 30 years, and get an energy tune-up.  Learn how to attune your vibrational frequency to the quantum field of light and Spirit energizing this new world.  You'll learn how to engage all your chakras, to strengthen your higher purpose and creative will, develop practical strategies, and attract resources and heartful friends and co-workers. Seminar will include guided meditation and experiential exercises for becoming a practical visionary and overcoming barriers to success.

The Spiritual Practices and Healing Arts of Ancient and Modern Mystery Schools

We are living in the most auspicious of times, when it's absolutely possible to turn the energy of this planet upside down -- not the 2012 predictions of pole reversals, but rather a new prediction of living from the inside out, awake, vital and consciously co-creating.  Living this way requires courage and honesty and deep compassion.  Knowing that our leadership and the state of world affairs are outward manifestations of our collective inner state of awareness, dare we condemn them.  Instead of condemning, we must learn from these things, using them as reflection points for what inside each of us is being called forward for transforming.  Rather than focusing "out there", we must call our attention to this moment -- to the Presence that lives and breaths and acts and thinks in and through each of us.  That Presence is not separate from our body and this world, and yet it is not bound by it.  Initiates of the ancient wisdom schools came to know these things through their training which enabled them to demonstrate specific levels of mastery.  In this full day intensive, you will experience the fundamentals of these wisdom schools.  You will work with the powerful resources of the physical and energetic bodies.  Through exercises and practices you will understand how to use the emotional body, once undefined and detached from your story about it, as a source of pure energy.  You will feel the expansiveness of the heart and know the spiritual interconnectedness of all things.  You will learn and practice the healing arts.  Today, our World calls for fully integrated leaders who possess a profound understanding of such “mysteries” and can demonstrate similar levels of energetic and spiritual strength.  We are holding the rudder of this existence in our hands.
