Sunanda
Gandhi
M.
K. Gandhi Institute for Nonviolence
Co-founder
of the M.K. Gandhi Institute for Nonviolence, and co-founder of A Season
for
Nonviolence,
Sunanda was born in 1932 in India's Gujarat province. She married Arun
in
1958
and later co-founded the M.K. Gandhi Institute for Nonviolence. After marriage,
Sunanda
used her nursing training to help the poor, the unfortunate and the unwanted.
As a
member
of the Maharashtra State Women's Council, she served on the Prison Reforms
Committee,
the Domestic Violence Committee and helped place 125 abandoned orphans
in
adoption.
From 1958-1987, she headed up the sections for women, children, and a special
academic
tutorial for children in the Bombay news weekly, The Suburban Echo. She
completed
a study on the Status of Women in India, University of Mississippi, and
with
Arun,
co-authored The Forgotten Woman, a definitive biography of M.K. Gandhi's
wife (and
Arun's
grandmother). Sunanda is a senior researcher at the Gandhi Institute, working
with
material
to be published as resources for nonviolence education.

Rinpoche was born in Tibet and raised as a son by one of the most
revered
spiritual teachers of this century, Jamyang Khyentse Chökyi Lodrö.

with Dudjom Rinpoche, Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche and many other great
