1.4 billion people on our planet live in extreme poverty. The Global Poverty Project seeks to invigorate the global movement to take effective concerted action on poverty through the presentation 1.4 billion reasons.

A simple yet ground-breaking presentation, 1.4 billion reasons, is travelling the world, inspiring and empowering audiences in its path. Based on leading research, the 90 minute presentation clearly articulates the facts of extreme poverty and demonstrates that by making simple changes everyone can be a part of the solution. Compelling and challenging, the presentation moves audiences to take action and become a part of the movement to end extreme poverty.

Hugh Evans (International CEO) gave a presentation as part of the Youth Plenary at the Parliament of the World's Religions 2009 in Melbourne. Hugh is an internationally renowned development advocate. Hugh founded the Oaktree Foundation and was a leader in the Australian Make Poverty History campaign. Hugh was named 2004 Young Australian of the Year and 2005 Junior Chambers Young Person of the World. Hugh holds a law and science degree and is undertaking a Masters in International Relations at the University of Cambridge, UK.
