Season for Nonviolence
& The International Committee for the Peace Council
You are invited, by the Gandhi King Season for Nonviolence (2011), to participate in an unprecedented program. The Association for Global New Thought (AGNT), in partnership with the International Committee for the Peace Council (ICPC), is offering a ten-week telephone-seminar series exploring the great themes of peace-building and nonviolent social change. Dr. Barbara Fields, Executive Director of AGNT and co-founder in 1997 of the Season for Peace and Nonviolence campaign, will co-host the series with her friend and colleague, Jim Kenney, Executive Director of the Interreligious Engagement Project (IEP21). Each week, participants will meet a remarkable peacemaker representing the Peace Council for an exploration of a substantive topic related to peace-building.
The Peace Council is a diverse group of religious and spiritual individuals who are internationally known and respected and who have decided to come together, as the Dalai Lama wrote in a recent letter, "to understand one another and work together so that those of us who profess belief in our respective faiths can work for the common cause of humanity." He added, "I believe that such a joint effort can set the right example for the rest of the world."
