A Shared Initiative: The Association for Global New Thought in Collaboration with the Major Movements of New Thought
A Parliament of the World's Religions Barcelona, Spain    July 7-14, 2004

During the entire summer of 2004, an international coalition is working together to create a gathering of cultures, nations, and religions for a world-class summit. The Parliament will be featured as a key event in the direct center of the summer-long gathering. The 2004 Parliament, which will be held July 7-13, 2004 in Barcelona, Spain, will take place in a beautiful 100-acre public park overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.  This exciting gathering will be the signature event of a 141 day Forum of Cultures, co-sponsored by the Universal Forum of Cultures Barcelona 2004, with the support of UNESCO.

AGNT will collaborate in planning a presence for New Thought in Barcelona. This program will deeply benefit from the partnership of every New Thought movement and organization, as well as from the participation of churches, study groups, and AGNT members. We plan also invite the innovative Social Ministers with whom AGNT has cultivated strong relationships over time.

Specific information about how to register will be posted soon. Our spiritual community will discover a global family of faith, and goodwill, as we gather for interreligious encounter, dialogue and creative engagement with the critical issues facing our world.  An anticipated 10,000 social activists, religious and spiritual leaders, educators, and performers from over 85 countries will attend the 2004 Parliament of the World's Religions. The only event of its kind, the 2004 Parliament in Barcelona will inspire, challenge, and energize people across the world who are committed to peace, social justice, and the international interreligious movement.

Barbara Fields Bernstein, AGNT Executive Director, has joined the Program Task Force of the Chicago based CPWR for planning the 2004 Barcelona event. To support the decision-making process, a collaborative New Thought steering committee stepped forward at the October 28th meeting: Tom Zender (Unity), Rev. Carol Carnes (AGNT), Dr. Marilyn Hall (ANTN), Dr. David Walker (RSI), Rev. Clare Austen (Unity), Rev. Kathy Hearn (UCRS), Rev. Glenn Mosley (Unity), Dr. Mary Tumpkin (UFBL), and Dr. Roger Teel, Rev. Mary Manin Morrissey, and Barbara Marx Hubbard (AGNT).

Stay tuned for more information as the planning process gets underway!
